Public Consultation

The Highcliffe and Walkford Draft Neighbourhood Plan is now out for public consultation, having been submitted to BCP Council by the Parish Council.

So if you live or work in Highcliffe and Walkford, it is time to have your say.

Our Neighbourhood Plan gives us as a community the opportunity to be directly involved in developing our own planning policies, which in turn will help shape the local area.

BCP Council wants to hear what you think and we would encourage you to get involved in the process.

The draft plan and supporting documents can be inspected at Highcliffe Library and Christchurch Library.

You can also view the plan and comment online at: www.bcpcouncil.gov.uk/highcliffeandwalkfordneighbourhoodplan

Consultation closes at midnight on Friday November 12.

The Examination

BCP Council will arrange for the independent examination of the Neighbourhood Plan. The Examiner is appointed by BCP Council but the person can only be appointed with the agreement of Highcliffe & Walkford Parish Council.

The arrangements for the examination will be decided by the Examiner in consultation with BCP Council and the Parish Council. The main purpose of the examination is to ensure that the Neighbourhood Plan:

  • Meets European obligations (at the time of this text October 2019).
  • Has regard to national planning policies.
  • Is in general conformity with the strategic policies of the adopted Local Plan (this is currently the Christchurch and East Dorset Core Strategy)..
  • Contributes to the achievement of sustainable development.
